A little bit of background information!

How we became US!

I was born and raised in small town Indiana. I didn't always live an easy life as my mother was very young when she and my father were blessed with my arrival. However, that negative doesn't quite overshadow all of the positives that I can count for being a child of a young mother! Because my mother was young, I was given the opportunity to have several teenage mommy's love me and care for me! Almost all of my mother's teen friends are currently still people that I know and love. I also was always able to be around my grandparents of both sides of the family which helped me develop a relationship with them that I might not have had if I didn't basically live with them! I attended elementary, middle, and high school in a small town and could not wait until I was old enough to leave. Upon my high school graduate I left the small town for bigger city living. I attended undergraduate at a private Christian school that cost me a small fortune. I pursued my degree in psychology because at the time I was sure I would make a 6 figure salary...BOY WAS I WRONG! While in college I met some great friends that despite our differences have always been a huge influence on me and who I wanted to be. I knew with their great role modeling that I would surely make a difference someday. I met my husband, who also attended the same high school as I did, my senior year of college and we quickly reconnected. We moved back to our hometown after my graduation and quickly bought a house and got engaged. After our engagement we found out that we were expecting. This was not something that we planned, but welcomed it with open arms. We found out in November that we were expecting a baby boy. We quickly got married in August before we welcomed our son. In March of 2009 we welcomed a healthy baby boy named Braylin. He was more than I ever could have asked for. He was my pride and my joy. Everyone seemed to dote on him, which has probably caused him to be the drama king that he is today. 9 months after Braylin made his grand entrance we found out that we were expecting baby number 2. I was devastated. This again, was not a planned pregnancy but it he was coming and there was nothing I could do to stop it. 9 months later, in September of 2010 we welcomed another healthy baby boy named Brodie into the world. He was amazing. I never realized that I could feel that feeling again after Braylin, but there it was for me all over again to embrace. At this point I decided that I didn't need to work anymore and I needed to focus on our boys. I stayed home with them and started working on a Masters degree in mental health counseling. I needed something outside of the boys to keep my mind busy. 6 months after Brodie arrived my husband got word that he needed to go to Tennessee to help on a multi million dollar job for his company so we picked up, moved to Tennessee, and started life over again. This was a huge move for me, as I was scared to death to be so far away from my family again. The adjustment was hard, but was well worth it once I started to dive into being a lady of the south. Tennessee turned out to be the love of my life. I loved everything about this state as it was beautiful, the weather was amazing, and the people were so friendly. I loved our new independence we had as a young family. I started applying for jobs to try and get out of the house. I ended up with an interview and got the job the same day. This was a blessing in disguise for me and my family. I quickly started as an in home counselor working with at risk youth and their family's. Adjusting to being a full time mother, wife, counselor, and graduate student was intensely complicated and it took me months to balance out. Eventually I was able to balance this out to a point that was manageable. I ended up meeting a ton of new friends that are all truly amazing. I loved everything about our little life. In the spring of 2013 my husband got a notice that work would soon be ending in Tennessee and that he would need to move back to Indiana. I was devastated. I was so concerned that I would lose what we had in Tennessee to include my job. Quickly my company helped me find opportunity in Indiana for me in the offices that were newly opening. We moved back in March of 2013 to the still cold and snowy state of Indiana. I quickly started working at the new offices in Indiana and adjusted to life again in our home state. I finished my Masters degree in July of this year and cannot wait to start supervision and the licensure process....One of these days I will be legit right?! As for now, we are just an ordinary family trying to make our way in the world!

Here is a snippet of a mommy and her boys day that we were able to have courtesy of Scarlet Fever and Impetigo! (We sure do love Maroon 5)

Of course we are part of the less than 2%....

So after my mommy's night out, I returned to sick children. Upon waking up the next morning I found my eldest child was suffering from a pretty high fever and complained of a sore throat. This was nothing I didn't expect so I treated with tylenol, fluids, and love. Of course, this couldn't be an isolated "cold". Last night my son started to complain that his mouth hurt. I checked his mouth and noticed tons of tiny bumps inside his mouth, on his tongue, and all over his body. He was red all over and was complaining of it being a little painful. Of course, I panic and check my other son who also displayed symptoms of a similar rash but was not as bad off. I instantly took them to an immediate care clinic. We were seen after about an hour wait by 3 different doctors who all could not conclude what the rash, or "hee-bee-gee-bees" as they were calling it, was. They ran a strep test and both tests for the children came back negative. We were sent home with a useless piece of paper that I could have googled myself stating that my child could have mono, measles, german measles, roseola, or another ridiculous skin rash. I was very upset by this as they just recommended that I take 10 days off of work and give my children some TLC. I have no problem with TLC, but I am sure that my employer is not going to allow me 10 days of sick time for a rash that cannot be diagnosed. I was able to schedule them both for a doctors appointment with their normal pediatrician who explained that my oldest son, in fact had strep throat and that it had turned into scarlet fever. My youngest son had impetigo. I with the rest of the population believed that scarlet fever was something of the 1900's when people would die over their illness and had no clue it was something of today. I googled the amount of people who get this illness in a year and it was something like 2000 people get this illness yearly...really???? I feel like my kids always get the "hee-bee-gee-bees" in the weirdest form! Needless to say I am happy and thankful that the doctor was able to give me the answer that I needed and my job accepted that I needed 24 hours off to give my children the TLC and antibiotics that they need!

FINALLY...a night out!

So, I want to thank everyone who took the time to read my very first blog! I was really shocked that so many people read! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

So last night was a much needed night out for me and a few friends! I bought concert tickets to the Honda Civic tour which featured Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5...two of my favs!!! I was so excited to have a girls day that I had to make it all about us girls! We went shopping, which ended up in chaos due to the kids in the area going back to school, came home and got ready, and headed out! I was so happy when we finally arrived and I could sit and relax in the grass with other fans! I instantly took advantage of my once in a lifetime freedom and bought a drink! To my surprise that drink set me back $9 dollars!!!!! WHO CAN AFFORD THAT? So we made our way to the lawn and found a nice spot that we could see. Upon spreading out the blanket we found that the neighboring concert goers were not pleased and continued to give us the stink eye for at least 20 minutes. It didn't matter...it was not going to ruin my night. Rozzi Crane opened up and she was surprisingly pretty good! I felt bad for her because not too many people even acknowledged that there was someone on the stage! After she finished her set Kelly came on and let me just say....SHE ROCKED IT! I loved her! She was barefoot and wore sunglasses for half of her set! She was amazing! After Kelly things started to get interesting! There were several people around us that had been drinking (heavily) throughout the evening! One fellow that caught my eye was a young kid, probably about 15 or so, who was doing some sort of rain dance/river dance/two stepping all over the grass! He was really going at it and I was pretty impressed! Another lady rolled down a hill and happened to land under this little lad's feet. Needless to say she started to get sick and probably will regret 90% of decisions made after this point in the night. There were also several older couples behind me that stepped on my $12 dollar sandwich and spilled a beer on the back of me! They were very intoxicated, but were singing and yelling. I really enjoyed that they were enjoying themselves, but most of all enjoyed the way they unbuttoned their shirts half way and yelled for Adam Levine to take it off! So that is where my night was supposed to end, however there was still a drive home! We got behind the slowest traffic in the world on the interstate only to realize that the car in front of us held a ripe young couple who were taking their time with one another in their car. I was highly embarrassed by this and somewhat annoyed that they were really making the traffic jam worse! BUT in true lady-like fashion my friends insisted on honking and shining my lights right into their rear-view to ensure them that they were BUSTED! All in all, I would say my night out was a success! Upon returning home I was welcomed by a 4 year old with a fever and a husband who was somewhat cranky due to the stories I told him! ***HOORAY for girls night out!***

Hello!

This blog thing is all new, but I thought I would give it a shot. I am a 28 year old mother of 2 toddler age boys with a husband. I graduated from College in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in psychology....hmmm that turned out to be a waste of A LOT of money! After I met my husband in 2006 I moved back to our hometown and settled down quickly. We moved in together, got married, and welcomed our first baby boy in March of 2009. He was the apple of our eye and was the best thing that had ever happened to us. Shortly after that (18 months to be exact) we welcomed our second child in September of 2010. With both children I decided to stay home and save money...since working would only lead to a high childcare bill! In this time I also decided to go back to school to earn a Masters degree in a field that might earn me enough money to pay on my student loans! The focus of this blog will be to allow everyone to share in our misadventures as parents, children, and spouses!
